Author: Matt Zurbo

Matt Zurbo is a writer and bush worker. He has had nine kids books published, one of which became an Emmy winning cartoon, as well as YA novels (shortlisted CBC Book of the Year), and various works of fiction and non-fiction. He has written for music magazines and copious amounts on Aussie Rules football. He has published many things under many fake names on the internet, just for the fun of it, but won’t tell you what they are! He just loves stories, and writing.

Day 202: Mermaids and Mermen

04/03/201912/08/2020 ~ Matt Zurbo ~ Leave a comment

Mermaids and Mermen by Matt Zurbo I see this as a series of creepy drawings with text to the side. Jumper Pillow Dad by Matt Zurbo   Joel was a good kid, or so most everybody said. (Kid, puffy, exhausted eyes, looking at reader.) But each night he had a problem: the nightmares in his head. (Kid, in PJs, holding teddy, looking at bed with waiting monsters under it.) Joel could not escape them, neither … Continue reading Day 201: Jumper Pillow Dad

Kate Moon by Matt Zurbo   Kate Moon had a problem. (Whimsical girl, in basic, two layered dress, with LOTS of straight, scruffy red/brown hair.) ”You’re all mad,” she thought. “Mad!” (We see her from behind, standing in front of a frazzled, bustled, phone-shouting, peak hour crowd.) “You’re all bored…” (Walking past kids at bus … Continue reading Day 200: Kate Moon

Day 199: The Night Zoo

01/03/201905/08/2019 ~ Matt Zurbo ~ Leave a comment

The Night Zoo by Matt Zurbo   One dusk little Chivon got lost. (Little girl in a field, watching a huge crescent moon rise.) She knew where she was going, then, oops. It was getting dark. The silence was the worst. (Chivon, eyes wide, in the still dark.) Then, “Ssh…” a voice whispered. (Chivon, lit … Continue reading Day 199: The Night Zoo
