Story 415: In This Moment

In This Moment
by
Matt Zurbo

In this moment…
you’re walking with me,
and I’m walking with you.

In this moment

you’re telling me you’re Superman,
Wonder Woman,
Captain Unicorn Farts!

And, oh, I believe you!

In this moment
I feel invincible, too.

In this moment you tell me everything
and anything,
and I’m listening
as if there is no other sound in the world.

Not the bobble of a creek,
not a pin drop,
not a jet’s roar.

In this moment there are gods in the sky,
cows jumping over the moon,
Vikings at sea,
flower kingdoms,

whatever you believe,
because I believe in you.

In this moment the weather is beautiful,
no matter what weather it is.

We can run from a storm together,
hide from the heat
together,
do frost drawings together.

Fly with the wind,

together.

And all is fine.

In this moment
I’m not hungry or tired,
I have your energy,
the way you seize the world.

In this moment there is nothing,
nothing,
you, or I,
or you and I,
cannot solve!

No joke is unfunny,
no bully too hard,
no race we can’t win.

In this moment you can sing,
sing!
Your voice fills the sky!

I’ll dance, no matter the song!

In this moment I admire you,
you’re strength you don’t know
you have.
Your brains, humour.

I want to put your laugh
on a throne!

In this moment nothing else matters.
Not yesterday,
not tomorrow.

There is no time,
there are no bullies,
no chores.

Just here and now.

Just me and you,
just you and I.

In this moment
I’m happy,
because you’re happy.

In this moment,
love
is almost too small a word…

  1. Beautiful Matt! Your daughter is blessed to have you as a dad. Of course, you are blessed as well. “I want to put your laugh on a throne” … ahh, if only❤️
