Story 421; True!

True!
by
Matt Zurbo

Mermaids blow bubbles shaped like love hearts. It’s true, I tell you, it’s true.

The full moon watches you, and hums the world’s quietest tunes. Listen, listen hard I tell you, it’s true!

Kangaroos know as much as you. Think about it, it’s true!

If I could have one super power, I would be the Hug. With one squeeze,
and a sigh,
I could cure anybody’s blues.

Even yours, it’s true! Oh, yeah, it’s true.

Flowers sleep at night. Don’t believe me? Just ask them. They’ll tell you it’s true.

Once a month, mermaids swim
just beneath the water’s surface, so they can listen to the moon
hum its tunes.

Mermaids need music, like me,
like you.

Any kangaroo would tell you that, if they could talk.

They’d whisper; “Mate, it’s true, it’s true!”

Join the dots, if you will,
on these things only your heart sees,
so you might make stories,
to float on the breeze.

Dragons fart fireworks,

elephants love to sigh,

even rocks and trees get sad,
at times,
without knowing why,

love is everywhere, just look around,

find it in the buzz of bees,
and in tunnels underground.

Imagination makes my soul sing,
it’s true, oh, how it’s true!

If I feel it, it’s real,
what more can I do?

So here’s to the mermaid, the moon and sleeping flower,
to whispering nights,

and their gentle power.

Here’s to me and to you,
to the things that we know,
rather than what we do,

what we know deep down,

in our bones,

to be true, to be true…

The End
